Boyspeak

In the past week I have received the following 2 messages via electronic communications.

"I still love ya and think of you often. Be well."

and

"Luv ya! Just wanted you to know that."

2 different guys.

Neither of whom I'm dating.

Translation please?

Wow. Ya got me. You said you're not dating either guy, but did you ever?

If I slip into literal mode, I'd say they were just checking in. I'd also say that the one who spelled "love" correctly may be more interested in your reply than the one who didn't. I'd be more invested if the first guy spelled "you" correctly, too - the modified spelling seems to me (and I'm in literal mode) to be an attempt to keep the statements from being read as anything serious (which is why I get slightly put off when C signs his notes with "luv ya").

Helpful?

Love you!!

Not so much helpful as EXACTLY what I was thinking. One of them I have dated in the past. Both of them are married but have shown interest in me. WHY the modified spellings? Why oh why?
